I am not too sure my attempt at making a low fat and low calorie nacho snack (or meal) worked. Me and a friend ate each a half a tray of the nachos. Instead of using canned diced tomatoes, I suggest just cutting up a regular tomatoe. You may also want to cut out putting so much ground turkey and put more fat free refried beans. By using a regular tomatoe you will be cutting out a lot of salt.
Next time I fix this snack (or meal), I will tweak it so that it is not so high in the following: Calories, fat, sodium, and cholesterol.
Before any changes, my meal came to:
838 Calories, 27 grams of fat, 3 grams of saturated fat, 160 mg of Cholesterol, 2434 mg of Sodium (EEEeek...got to fix this!), 84 grams of protein and 63 carbs.
Now for the embarrassing part. If I would of gotten a Taco Bell Nachoes Bell Grande, I would of had the following:
770 Calories, 44 grams of fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, 30 mg of Cholesterol, 1270 mg of Sodium, 19 grams of protein, and 77 carbs (Please refer to Taco Bell's website to confirm this information in case I copied it incorrectly).
As you can see, I need to work on a few things. I was rather surprised to find out that the sodium content of the fat free cheese was so high. Can anyone suggest ways to make this a more "fat free", but healthier snack. And I think the best thing is to eat right, but eating Nachos can be a big treat once in awhile.
I used the following:
1 container of All Natural "Honeysuckle" white 93/7 Ground Turkey
49 Baked Tosititos Tortilla "Scoops" Chips (Counted them out)
2 Tablespoons of olives
1 can of Mild Diced Tomatoes with Green Chiles
2 Tablespoons of Ortega Guacamole Style Dip
4 Tablespoons of Lank O Lakes Fat Free Sour Cream
1 Package (7 ounces) of Natural Shredded Fat Free Cheddar Cheese

First you cook the ground turkey 93/7 lean. Break it into fine little pieces. |

Put the "Scoops" baked Tostitos brand chips on a tray. |
|
After the turkey is cooked, you sprinkle it over the chips. Then add fat free cheese on top. |

Put in the oven to allow the cheese to melt slightly. |

Spoon on the Diced Tomatoes (with Green Chiles) |
|
Put guacamole and fat free sour cream on it. |
